SketchUp Free featuresġ0GB Cloud Storage through Trimble connect, It is a web-based version of SketchUp and to use it you have to sign up for an account through the official website. Just as the name suggests, it is a free plan of the SketchUp program. If you are looking to leverage the features of SketchUp in your 3D modelling and you do not have enough money to buy a program, this is always a great option. Ive had a few goes at fusion360 because doing parametrics would likely be quicker and more powful in the long run but im having the same issues, i know how to do things in blender and doing them in fusion seem to take excessive amounts of actions. I do realize it might be even more aggravating if one already knows another way of designing things (cad or sketchfab in your case). Havnt taken a pic of it fully assembled yet but here is the rear end with the tracks: Īs a factoid, i also hated blender initially, thought the UI was so unintuitive but after getting over the initial hurdle, learning to navigate around the viewport, scaling, moving, extruding, aligning i really like it.

Its for a RC 1/10 scale Opel Maultier im working on, this is where ive gotten, assembled what is shown in the pic and gave it a first test drive yesterday: The rotary servo motion is translated into linear using a cam/slot which moves the leftmost lower gear sliding on the output axle, in the pictured position its in low, engaging the gear on the top axle, when going to high the leftmost lower goes to the right and has slots which engage the knobs on the green gear, bypassing the last geardown. If sub 20cm is an issue you could always design things 10x larger and then scale it down to get around that.ĪDDITION: i saw you mention that you are likely to make gears, here is a gearbox i designed in blender, its for a 540 DC motor and uses a 9 gram servo for switching between high and low range. It wont fix single face/zero volume parts that are often used when making cosmetic models, those will require adding volume, if the shape is simple enough then the "solidify" modifier can work. That could often be sorted by opening the models in blender, going to edit mode, selecting all vertices, doing "merge by distance" followed by "recalculate outside". Got no experience with sketchup and how it does things, ive seen some exported models and they are often made up of unconnected surfaces.
